From the mixed up files of meredith44

I was introduced to LJ a couple of years ago. I had read a few high quality Lost fics and had seen numerous Lost icons that I would like to snag, so I joined just so I could give feedback and credit people. Then the LJ world sucked me in. I was introduced to the wonderful worlds of fanfic and icon-making and they captivated my interest.

My all-time favorite show is La Femme Nikita, but there isn't really that much of an active fandom for it (especially on LJ) at the moment. (I'm okay with the remake and Nikita, but I don't love the show.) My current favorite shows are Haven, Hannibal, Battlestar Galactica (2003) (although I've only made it partway through the fourth season at the moment), Fringe (the third season was awesome), Firefly, Farscape (I'm in the third season), Elementary, Defiance, and Legend of the Seeker; although, I'm also rather interested in Lost, NCIS, Rizzoli & Isles, Alphas, Torchwood, and Warehouse 13. If you want a more comprehensive look at the shows I like (and why) and the pairings I like, you can read this (although it isn't current, sadly). I'm up for discussion about any show that I watch!

Unfortunately, I went from a part time job to a full time (more than full time!) job and RL has become extremely hectic, so I post less often than I would like. This also means that I'm not as good at replying to people's posts as I used to be. I would like to be better, and I'm going to make a concerted effort to do so, starting now. We'll see how long that resolution lasts!

This is my more personal journal, and it deals with some RL, some fangirling, some meta, etc. It's probably 75% non-flocked. If you wish to read the f-locked stuff (although I swear it's not that interesting), please comment on any post and I'll probably add you (assuming you don't talk in netspeak and/or we have some interests in common).

I have an icon journal, mouse_whisperer, but until recently I was on hiatus from making icons (long story), so there isn't really much there. I've started up again making (I hope) relatively decent icons, so hopefully the hiatus is over and iconmaking will be fun again. (Now if I could only solve that pesky lack of free time thing! *grin*)

I mod lfn_icons (for icons of La Femme Nikita), wat_icons (for Without a Trace-related icons), and I'm a team leader at mordsith_temple for legendland, so if you're curious, please give them a look!


Currently I am somewhat involved in land communities. I love the competition and the sense of teamwork and community. (But sadly, they are a dying breed. :( )

Resources that I use/used to use to make icons

All of the resources that I have ever used can be found in a post in my icon community. I downloaded resources on my hiatus that I have yet to add into there, but hopefully it will be current again soon.

My main sources are freshmakers for brushes and textures (it's an elite/invitation only community with some great stuff) and obsessivefonts for fonts. I make a bunch of my own caps, especially for La Femme Nikita and Burn Notice, as I've found that I can be rather picky in my cap making/selection. If you are interested in caps of shows I've iconned, let me know, and there is a chance that I have some to share. All of the cap sources I have ever used (or even considered using) can be found in my memories.
